Chanel Couture Fall 2010

So on Tuesday, the 6th, Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for the House of Chanel, released the wild lion from it's cage which took over the catwalk creating a wild performance. The models were accompanied by a GINOURMOUS 40-foot-tall gold lion. The lion was stretching its paw on an equally enormous pearl which has always had an important role since the beginning.

Even though the setting of the show was a big(super expensive)production, the clothes were traditional. It wasn't my favourite one but I guess they just thought that no one would notice the clothes if there was a golden lion in the centre of the catwalk. The most used colors were gray, ivory, and gold. Here are a few of my selected favorites for you from his collection of over 70 looks. Which one do you like best?

Front Row at Christian Dior Fall 2010 Couture

Jessica Alba and Blake Lively were in the front row at the latest Dior collection. They're wearing what I'm assuming to be looks from the Pre-Fall 2010 collection.Obviously, their dresses are very summery and both of them are accesorized with Christian Louboutin shoes.I noticed that Blake is really interested in fashion as throughout the show, from what I've seen she was taking notes like all the fashion editors were doing.

Model's Street Style:Frida Gusstavsson

I've always liked how well put together Frida Gusstavsson looks. And you should take into consideration the fact that she's only 16!!!!Anyways,from what I 've read on some forums,I know that the dress is vintage and the bag is Miu Miu.On the second look,I don't know for sure, even though I suspect that it's also vintage,at least the shirt.

UK Vogue August 2010:Colour Shock

Christian Dior Fall 2010 Couture

As many fashion critics say, this new couture collection proved to be old school Galianno. The designer himself said that his inspiration were flowers and their shapes, as you can easily see in the tulips skirts and dresses. Moreover, some of the models had their heads covered in plastic to give the sensation of a flower bouquet.
I think that the hard work put in every piece of the collection as all of them have mesmerizing details will pay off as everyone said that this is the best collection from the last 5 years!Personally my favourite dress is the black one with ruffles cascading all over it which is the second picture I posted here.

UK Vogue August 2010 Editorial:First Look

The editorial form the UK Vogue August issue is called New Look as it previews the fall collections.I really liked the choice of models,Karlie Kloss and Karmen Pedaru as it seems that these two work great together. The fall collections showed include Louis Vuitton,Dolce&Gabanna,Lanvin and Givenchy.Personally,my favourite pics are the Louis Vuitton and Dolce&Gabanna ones.

Chanel F/W 10.11 Ad Campaign

This is another case where I didn't really like the collection but I love the ads.The Chanel Fall 2010 collection wasn't well received by many but the pictures are tastefully done. One of their biggest pluses is that two of the highest rated models nowadays,Freja Beha Erichsen and Abbey Lee Kershaw, took part. The photoshoot took place in New York and it kinda captures the city's spirit even though Chanel it's a well established Parisian fashion brand.

Louis Vuitton F/W 10.11 Ad Campaign

This is definitely one of my favorite as it captures the whole vibe of the collection. The weird part is that even though the collection wasn't one of my favourites,I still could apreciate these pictures as they have a nice vintage touch. Also,I think that the casting for the ads was amazing. It was a wise decision not to use fresh faces as Natalia Vodianova,Karen Elson and Christy Turlington were able to show the message of the collection.

Ad Campaigns for Fall 2010

So,many of the ad campaigns for the Fall 2010 collection have already been released and personally we think that not all of them have succeeded in convincing the customers that the products can be weareable. Most of them have kept their runway touch and it' hard to believe that a regular person could wear those clothes with the same confidence a professional model does. However, that's the way all the ad campaigns for high fashion brands are shot.
Anyway,I'll make a diferent post for all the ad campaigns that I really enjoyed.

Leighton Meester in Spanish Cosmopolitan

Leighton Meester graces the cover of Spanish Cosmopolitan Magazine this month. She looks,as always slim and leggy.I have nothing creative to say about this photoshoot. There is nothing new here ,nothing out of ordinary.Just a pretty girl looking at us with her glittery(definitely photoshopped)eyes, showing us more skin than necessarily that we probably don't wanna see.Nothing original.Nothing to impress me so much that I would start admiring this girl.

Anyways,to change the subject, the Gossip Girl star is wearing what I am assuming to be a Nina Ricci piece because that little paragraph in the corner says something like "Top, culote y peep booty de Nina Ricci." I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

Moschino Cheap&Chic Fall 2010 Collection

The Moschino Cheap &Chic Collection Fall 2010 was one of my favorites because it had a very specific theme. The designers showed through their outfits the different women that come out of a hotel. So the fashion show proved to be a really fun one as, maybe everyone who watched it recognized himself or rather recognized his personality as all the looks had a different feeling attached to it.Some of them were really edgy,as others were the pure definition of girlie style. There was even an outfit a maid could wear!Make sure to check out all the other looks on style.com

Balmain Fall 2010 Collection

Balmain is world-wide known for its huge prices,so it's no wonder that only the the super rich can afford it,but no one forbids us,the commoners,to dream of dressing in such clothes.
All the Balmain collections were edgy and really fashion-forward,and this season,Christophe Decarnin did not let us down. The collection was really extravagant and not many persons could pull off,as an example,a gold lame dress. As style.com said, the main theme was Baroque rock'n'roll as all the pieces were edgy but they also had a vintage feel to it.One of my favorite pieces from the collection was the suit in the picture as it's something I would wear to an important event instead of the usual cocktail dress.

US Vogue June 2010

The cover girl for the June issue of Vogue US was Blake Lively, who was though a nice choice for a summer cover,it just feels like we've seen this stuff before. The editorial, shot by Mario Testino, shows Blake wearing amongst other brands, pieces from the spring collection of Michael Kors and Versace. The photoshoot has a nice Californian vibe, however,I still think that Vogue should use models on their covers rather than always celebrities who are not as professional as a model with experience, providing this is not a lifestyle magazine but a fashion one.

Blake Lively is featured in the June issue of Vogue Magazine… but not covered in glamorous clothes – instead of layers and accessories, Blake is sporting a white bikini that looks amazing on her fit and slim figure and lots of surfer-chic looks.

Anyway, here are the rest of the pics from the editorial:

New Handbag Collections

Balenciaga run by Nicolas Ghesquiere, the fashion house was founded  in 1918.It has a rich history full of ups and downs and after all this years it still continues to impress the fashion industry. In recent fashion years, the luxury brand created a major international stir with its Le Dix motorcycle bag.

The 2010 spring-summer collection is perfect for the summer. The bags are very colorful and  flirty and the details are mesmerizing.

Louis Vuitton the new collection is absolutely fabulous. This offers a fresh take on the House heritage. It comes in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. You can wear them everywhere starting from a nice walk in the park to a romantic dinner at the restaurant.

The Resort 2011 Collection

The Resort 2011 Collection may not be as spectacular and glamorous as the spring and fall ones but it's definitely the best selling one. That's because the designers stop creating extravagant pieces as the majority of them don't even have a runway show and the designs are much more wearable. Here are one of my favorite collections:

1.3.1 Phillip Lim-This designer is known to have a strong fan base in the young and cool people who buy his clothes. This Resort collection he has a 70's inspiration clearly visible in his wide legged pantsuits. It's a really chic collection that has a Parisian feeling attached to it.

2.Marc by Marc Jacobs-As usual, this collection, the younger sister of the big brand,is addressed to a younger audience,so that the pieces are very colorful and energetic. However,my favorite design is the black lace dress which has a very interesting fabric that can be worn at a party or just when you're running errands with a pair of fun flats.

3.Rag&Bone-This brand is also a really edgy one, that many fashionable New-Yorkers wear.If you wear it,you will have a touch of coolness without looking like you tried too hard to make that outfit.

Classic with an edge

Some famous brands keep getting fresher and fresher even though the were established more than 50 years ago. Here are some examples of fashion brands that never lost their magic spark.

1.Burberry-This brand has a well-known history and every season their basic piece of clothing is the famous Burberry trench but it is always different.Maybe it has an electric color or maybe it has army accents, you should always rely on Burberry to give you the perfect classic clothes but with an edge that makes them really modern.

2.The Great Dior....or should we say the great Galliano always has a fresh take on the most modern trends even though he returns back to the 40's to show women's true beauty. The last two collections had that touch even though the pieces of clothing are very wearable.

3.Lanvin-it's also a brand with a rich history that has a strong Parisian fan base. You could expect the staff from Vogue Paris to be wearing the new collection before it even hit the runways. For the last spring collection, the Lanvin designer,Alber Elbaz used on almost all of the pieces ruffles and draped fabrics. The final result is a very consistent and wearable collection.

So if anyone reads us,which brand do you think it's the one that keeps getting better over the years?Let us know about your opinion in the comments section.

Designer stuff we wish we could have

1.Proenza Schouler-They're one of my favorite designers because they're the simply definition of downtown-chic.Not everybody dares to wear these clothes and that makes them even more special. As a personal favourite,I think the spring 2010 collection was simply amazing and full of personality. The fabrics and the colours used were praised by all the fashion industry and their tie dye T-shirt is the must-have item of the spring-summer season.

2.Alexander Wang-He is known to be the wonder child of the fashion industry because at only 25 he has been creating since 2007.His designs have also a touch of downtown-chic plus a punk-chic feeling.
